swa309MemberNow that I’ve passed, I feel like I have a ton of free time on my hands that would best be spent towards accomplishing something else. Work is covered, I’m devoting more time to family and friends, but I still feel the need to keep learning. Is anyone else motivated for another certification? What cert is next?

swa309MemberLuckily I have already surpassed the mandatory 4 years. I plan on applying for the CGMA designation after I receive my license but I'm still motivated for something else. MST and MBA are too expensive. Any other ideas?

kevincoMemberIs anyone considering a CFE? Is there any value added to one's resume with a CFE? I'm considering this as one of my future options.

tough_kittyMemberKevin, if you meet work experience requirement, then go for it.
I'd want to get the CFP certificate but they require 3 years of relevant experience which I doubt I'll ever have….

AnonymousInactive@tough_kitty I haven't looked over the website (month-end starts today, so don't have long to look this morning), but from what you guys have said here, it looks like the exam requirement is exempted for active AICPA members as of Jan 1 2015, but that you don't necessarily have to have all the experience at that point.
My concern with this CGMA designation, though, is that if all active CPAs (basically) can get it, then will it really have any value? I kinda wish it did have an exam so that at least only people who wanted it enough to study a bit would have it, rather than everyone that says “Heck, it's at least worth filling out an app”. However, at the same time, I was wanting to get a CMA-type certification because private is where I plan to work, so this might allow me to have a private-accounting-looking-designation without having to spend the $$$ and time on the CMA!
