We passed….now what?

Now that I’ve passed, I feel like I have a ton of free time on my hands that would best be spent towards accomplishing something else. Work is covered, I’m devoting more time to family and friends, but I still feel the need to keep learning. Is anyone else motivated for another certification? What cert is next?

I'm motivated but it all costs way too much $$$ and ROI isn't there…. so, I'll just spend my time enjoying reading my novels, watching tv shows, etc. Oh yeah, and doing my CPE once I get the license….

But if you are ready for something else, CMA will most likely accept your work experience. All you need to do is pass the exams.

@tough_kitty I believe that the CMA is close to irrelevant. CGMA is issued by the AICPA and looks as though it will replace the CMA. http://www.cgma.org

No exams necessary for the CGMA as long as you are an AICPA member until 2015.

Ok if I understand this correctly, as long as you meet CPA and experience requirements and pay the fees by Jan 1, 2015, you don't have to take exams??

This part here states that they would require additional 3 yrs on top of 1 yr of experience?? I hope not! Because I'll only have 3.5 years of experience by 2015….

Thanks for this info! Very useful!

“I am an AICPA member, but I do not maintain an active CPA license. Can I become a CGMA designation holder?

To be eligible to become a CGMA professional, you must either be a member of CIMA or an AICPA voting member in good standing. AICPA voting members have passed the Uniform CPA Examination, met the UAA educational requirements, and met experience requirements needed to become a CPA. An additional three years of experience in a management accounting role is required for the CGMA designation.”

Luckily I have already surpassed the mandatory 4 years. I plan on applying for the CGMA designation after I receive my license but I'm still motivated for something else. MST and MBA are too expensive. Any other ideas?
