I genuinely didn’t think this day would come. This journey has been so much harder than I even thought it should be. I found this forum summer of 2014 and have been checking in everyday about stories of the CPA journey.
I started studying since Sept 2014 and took BEC on 10/23/15. On 10/28/15, I was let go by my firm. On 11/5/15, I was in a car crash that totaled my car (my very first car too π ). Don’t worry, I was unscathed, mostly. So CLEARLY, the CPA exam took a HUGE drop from my priority list, because I had to find a job and another car. Fortunately, my job search did not take long and around Thanksgiving, I found out that I passed my first section. With some renewed energy, I went back to studying.
However, I knew that studying for FAR would be so different than BEC. I had to earn this and by not working hard enough, I pushed FAR and indirectly harmed my chances of studying for REG. Collectively, I skimmed the material for REG and knew I was not ready. However, I took the exam regardless since I wanted to see what the exam was like. Within the month of May this year, I found out that I failed FAR and REG. It hurt but I knew that I could’ve studied harder. After those fails, I attacked FAR with a renewed passion. I left no stone unturned. I even googled “what is a credit/debit?” to force myself to learn journal entries. With some fortune, I passed FAR.
Moving on to AUD, I truly wondered if what people said about doing audit helps with studying for the exam. It did, like a lot. AUD is, by FAR, the only one that I had no qualms when I left the test center. Then I met my nemesis, I had encountered my first breakdown with this test. It was SO hard. Like really hard. If anyone asked me how I passed, I don’t even know how to answer. REG was especially hard since I didn’t even think I could be able to study for it. Within the month of November, with work getting busy and I had to move out of the house that I had lived in for 20 years, I didn’t think I even had it in me to pass REG. I was really resigned to retaking REG in 2017 Q1 and I knew that I couldn’t joke around anymore since I am NOT going to take the exam with those changes. BUMP that.
This morning, CBA website was playing tricks with me. I woke up at 5 and I kept refreshing though I secretly knew that the scores wouldn’t come out until 6. When it finally hit 6, I was like, wtf, where’s my score. When it got to 630, I knew something was weird. So I actually went into the score report, and there it was… my last score… (barely scrapped by) but a passing score of 78.
I just want to thank you ALL the NINJAs, you are awesome and never forget that. You will pass the CPA exam, whether it is this version or the new version, if you truly apply yourself to study and make sure you comprehend the material. I will be around this forum still, since my hand automatically types “a” and the address pops up on my web browser. I wish everyone much luck. Now to finish ethics.
