I am DONE! It feels AMAZING to post that. Haha.
THANK YOU JEFF for this forum. Honestly, this forum has helped me out tremendously in reminding me that I’m not alone in this journey. Having other people to talk to/vent with who are experiencing the same thing has kept all of us sane. The “exam experience” thread was the one I’d just read through when I felt lazy and didn’t want to study becuase it motivated me and really made me think about sitting at prometric taking the exam!
I’ve read so much advice throughout this process so I decided to return the favor:
Best advice to future test takers is:
1) Half the battle is mental: Take/focus on one exam, one chapter, one question at a time. If you think about the whole journey ahead of you, you’ll get overwhelmed and discouraged. I did everything in increments of 10. So read 10 pages at a time, did 10 MCQs at a time. This would keep me motivated when I had to read like 100 pages of Becker material per day. Also, when you get like 150 problems that take forever for a certain section, do 10 at a time and before you know it you’ll be done.
2) Regularly work out/do physical activity while you’re studying. It will keep your mind sharp and brain juices flowing.
3) When you feel discouraged. Read through the “I Passed I’m done” thread and that will keep you motivated.
Yeah we all know in the midst of studying, it sucks sometimes. But let me tell you… the feeling you have when you check that final score is indescribable . It AMAZING. I’m getting chills just writing this and thinking about the way I felt a few days ago. Like I still have a huge grin on my face.
Good luck to all you future test takers! If I can do it 4 years after college with very little recollection of accounting, YOU CERTAINLY CAN TOO! Have faith! I’m out…
