I fully expect to be done next week, but give some of us about to take our last exam a taste of what it’s like?

I plan on taking 17 days to do absolutely nothing, other than going to work. No night projects, or other hair brained ideas, just enjoy my family and our time together.

We are all determined and motivated people, so sitting around doing nothing for a long period of time doesn’t sound that amazing to me…but that’s not the point. Tell us your post war stories, and what we can expect on the “other side”.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

Sorta feels like you suddenly have more free time than you've ever had in your life. Then again, I work slightly less than 40 hrs/week and need a new hobby, so…

I've had surgery twice and gotten very behind at the office, so I'm still waiting on the post exam downtime.

I finished in May and at first I was very lost – it felt like a guilty pleasure to just sit and do nothing. But have no fear! Work came in and rescued me from such dire calmness. I got put on an audit-from-hell and have been working into almost every night and weekend since July. (I guess since they now know I'm not studying at night…)

I have managed to find some time here and there to get back to an old love – painting.

Its amazing to not have the pressure of studies anymore!!!

Less than a month before my last exam I started a new job and less than a week after my last exam I started house-hunting. The whole house-buying, moving, and first-time-home-owner process has made a good replacement for studying! Then once being a home-owner started to settle into a routine we started dealing with some health issues with my boyfriend, and now those have calmed down so we're just in a nice, comfortable, love-having-time-to-enjoy-life routine. 🙂 Because life had various things to help ease the transition from studying to routine life, there wasn't any huge jump from studying to non-studying, so it was a smooth transition. Besides buying a house, I haven't done huge, exciting, crazy things, but isn't the goal of passing the exams to be able to enjoy the little things in life? That was always my theory at least! 🙂

We're going to go to an amusement park that we normally go to once every summer and haven't been able to, make a trip to the west side of Washington, go up to the lake, etc. I just can't wait to wake up on Saturday and not have to study all day and be able to come home from work and actually cook dinner. It will be so nice to have my life back!

I slept in and took many, many cat naps with my fiance (who was also studying for her CPA exam). Just being able to come home, eat, and be like… “Let's take a nap.” instead of having to jump right into studying felt amazing. You start enjoying the little things and the extra time you get.

It's been a year since I've passed and I realize that there is still a longing to apply myself to something with the same focus and passion I had toward the CPA exam. When you finally overcome the CPA exam, you find that you've created an overwhelming amount of determination and dedication that you still want to use for something else. I've diverted that drive toward the gym and it's paid dividends.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

When I finish taking my fourth (FAR), I will then have a weekend to relax before my full-time starts. Hopefully I pass all the first time.

Next summer, on to GMAT for MBA in 5 years or so.

The first few days to a week felt like an empty void. It was very similar to the first few weeks after college ended. You just find yourself with so much time on your hands, that you don't know what to do with it. As a result, you're not very efficient with your use of all this free time. All those things that you planned to do, vowed to to… they're not really happening as you adjust to your new circumstance.

Then a week + after your final write you begin to come to terms with things. BBQ's, faces you haven't seen for a year. Beers with people, catching up with folks… I started riding my road bike again, I'm doing 160 miles per week (I do work full time) so if I'm not in the office, I'm out on the bike. I lost all the weight I put during the CPA and then some. Life is good… I went to the beach yesterday. Paperwork sent to Albany (NY) and I will get my papers in eighteen weeks or so.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

@Skynet: Psh, I've been to Disney World, Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and will go to Disneyland once before I finish all 4 parts.

Life can't stop just for the CPA!! 😀 (Well, at least Disney obsessions can't…. haha)

Well, I too expect to be done with the CPA exam after getting the score for REG tomorrow (fingers crossed). Well here is what I'm planning to do:

1- Rewrite my CV and add those three letters after my name.

2- Apply for CGMA and add that to my name as well 😀

3- Apply for Big4 positions in my area.

4- Learn a new language (dutch, spanish or french)

5- Learn a new instrument (probably acoustic guitar for now)

6- Read a lot of books

    7- Get married..

I drank copious amounts of booze for a week or two.

    Then I remembered I had a family.

So I've spent a lot of my free time catching up on missed time with them. It's been great.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.
