Hello all,
First post here, but this will certainly not be my last. While I just signed up today to give thanks to all of you, I have been reading this forum for at least 2 years now, and it has been one of the most helpful resources for me in passing this exam. The tips and encouragements shared on this forum have been nothing short of amazing, and I really do think that every CPA exam candidate should find this website as a place to vent, read, share helpful tips, and just generally congregate (read: complain) alongside like-minded individuals.
My exam experience is as follows:
BEC – Pass
FAR- Fail (whoops)
FAR – Fail (uh oh)
REG – Fail (am I ever going to pass again?)
AUD – Pass
Far – Pass
REG – Pass
I certainly did not pass in the easiest way, and thought about giving up MANY times after failing FAR 2x in a row followed by a REG fail. I can honestly say that this is one of the hardest things that I’ve ever done, but my advice to anyone that is currently struggling with the exam is to NEVER GIVE UP. No matter how hard this exam is (and it can be very hard at times), it is not worth passing on your dreams.
I see a lot of discussions on this exam prep tool vs. the next, and what I can tell you is that no matter how much you spend (Becker) or how little, it is up to you to pass this exam. You can spend $10k on CPA prep materials, and if you don’t open any of the books, listen to any lectures, or MOST IMPORTANTLY hammer MCQ’s and SIM’s like it’s your second full-time job (since it seems like most of us here are working), you’re not going to pass. This exam is a direct reflection of the amount of work that you put into it, and I promise you that if you put in the effort, you will all pass eventually. The key is not getting discouraged, and always keeping your eyes on the prize, which is that incredibly small and incredibly expensive piece of paper that validates you as a CPA.
Finding out that I passed REG this morning had to be one of my happiest times in recent memory (second to my goddaughter being born), and I hope that all of you someday are able to share that feeling.
Anyways, I plan on sticking around to be of help in any way that I can, whether it be an exam tip or word of encouragement, since I really believe in giving back and helping others pass.
tldr: don’t give up, you’ll pass eventually, being done is the best feeling on the planet
Thanks guys!
