10 months, the longest of my life possibly. My last exam was 10/1/12, I received my pass score in NOVEMBER (that wait alone took a year off my life), and was licensed in KY this January. It honestly feels like its been years since I took the exams, not sure what that is about, but thank GOD they are behind me because I couldn't imagine doing it again.

Sadly my mindset was pass the exams, become CPA, find great CPA job. Alas, I am stuck at my job and after 8 months applying have found nothing. I'm pretty negative these days, wondering why I put myself through this torture. I just came back here today to reminisce…I remember perfectly the day I got my last passing score and had to find somewhere at work I could cry in private LOL. It is good to remember for a minute how great that felt. πŸ™‚

    AUD 85 (2/12) Using Becker
    FAR 81 (5/12)
    BEC 79 (7/13)
    REG 85 (10/1)

4 months of studying everyday, even on weekends! All I did was study… I treated it as more than a full-time job.

I took it over the summer. 3 in one testing window and the last one on Oct 1st.

In that 4 months, I can count on my one hand how many times I went out with friends.

It was a hard process but I reminded my that, “The CPA is not a test of intelligence, it is a test of discipline. If others can do it, so can I.”

Good luck to everyone studying. No matter how long it is taking, how many homeworks you fail, how much you lack a social life… just hang in there and ride it out! Passing the CPA is a once in a lifetime challenge. It will be a huge milestone for your career and you'll be very glad you did!

Having the CPA license will stand you in good stead for the rest of your career. Eventually you will go on to that better job that you are looking for. Don't discount all of the hard work that you put in – you are now a C-P-A…!

Because of family demands, ie, having children and working full-time, putting my husband through graduate school, then being a single mom to three teenagers, I had to postpone the exam for 23 years. Finally, my kids are grown and I've been able to concentrate on the exam. If I never land the dream job that will be okay, I'll just be so happy to have those three little letters behind my name.

It's worth it. Even though I have the accounting/tax chops, I could never truly advance because I didn't have the license.

Work on developing the practical skills. Good luck in your job search ~~
