I have been selfishly one of those people who have been a lurker but not a contributor. After i finally finished this long reallly long journey, i wanted to let everyone who feels like just throwing the towel NOT TO DO IT. I started my journey 5 years ago, right after college; did really well in college, graduated with a great GPA, started working at Big4 and sadly even though i thought i put a lot of time into studying, i failed MULTIPLE times. I thought i was just doomed and not meant to pass because someone who did so well in college could have no other reason. After i failed so many times, i took a little over a year break but decided to come back and dive back into ONE FINAL time in May 2014 and just got my final passing grade last night.
So what worked for me?
You really need to put the time into it. I know when you work at public accounting (or have any full time job), it’s almost impossible to function after you get home. If you can put at least 2 hours during the weekday, that’s a clutch!!!! I guarantee you.
Purchase NINJA MCQ as a supplement. I seriously think that that’s what pushed me over the edge and helped me pass. I purchased it for FAR and i passed it on first time i took the exam this summer (not counting the multiple times i failed when i first started this journey). I failed BEC twice this summer then i purchased NINJA MCQ and passed. (I used Becker throughout the whole time).
Understand the questions! I think i had that college mentality that i can get away with memorizing some concepts, but this exam is truly understanding what the question is really asking (always read the last sentence first in the question).
and most importantly DO NOT GIVE UP! i wanted to give up so many times, and now i truly realize that this exam is nothing but proving that you are not only smart but also mentally strong.
