Hello. I hope this doesn’t come off as pretentious, but I passed the CPA exam all on first tries and I’m utterly depressed that I did. I’ve had no luck with the job search and I suspect that being a Devry grad is the cause.

It’s depressing to know that passing this hard exam doesn’t negate the negative connotations of my alma mater.

You think its possible to just leave it off my resume? Do any firms recruit from outside the college campus scene? Should i go to pursue a masters from a ‘reputable’ school?

I graduated from Keller (Devry) and had anew job within 6 months. I have not passed the CPA exam yet, but I have accounting experience. Based on my experience here in South Florida, they only interview individuals who graduated from local state and private universities first (FIU,UM,FAU) and then graduates from online universities. Dont forget the interviewers mots likely went to either a state or local private university themselves.This logic however goes to the dumpster once you passed the CPA exam since it will demonstrate that you have the necessary skills for an entry-level position. In your case, I think its just a matter of luck.
