I’m sorry if this is in the wrong spot – I couldn’t find the Alumni thread.

Just wondering how everyone is doing now that the exam is behind them.

I am doing really well! I got married on September 22nd. Also, I’m pregnant! I think around 7.5 weeks, but I won’t know for sure until my first appointment on Nov 12th. Hmm let’s see.. I’m currently dressed like a pirate because it’s Halloween, and I won the costume contest here at work (woohoo!). Work is good.

That’s about it. Would love to hear from others who have passed. 🙂

    Working.

I guess that is what most of us are up to. I did get a nice raise from having my CPA and am semi-enjoying all my freetime. I do feel lost sometimes and feel like I need to get another designation or go back to school for more degrees. I just kind of sit at home and feel like I'm wasting time when I could be adding letters to the end of my business card.

Some things I miss about being active on the forum:

I miss the Minimorty vs goodluck and BaseballCPA vs MrNormalGuy forum “confrontations” on here from last year.

I'm sure Jeff and the Drama Ninja are glad that stuff doens't happen as much (I assume) anymore, but it was really funny to watch/read, mostly because, while extremely harsh, mini and baseball were just saying things we were all thinking and really had everyone's best interest in mind.

I miss reading things from mini, baseball, Kricket, mla, Jenuno, Kasia, jomarie, jeff, cashmoney and everyone who was so helpful when I was taking my exams. I guess that's why I don't come back as often though, since I am done and haven't needed the forums for support.

I miss the Rocket Ship drinking game most of all though.

It was always nice to talk to other people going through the same thing I was, since no one in my family could really grasp how this exam process gets in your head.

Good luck to everyone who is currently taking it. My wife used to always tell me that even if I failed, I was still that much closer to getting licensed and it really is true. So, keep it up to everyone who is going through it and congratulations to everyone who has passed since last March.

I started taking the exams just on the tail-end of y'all finishing up, but I used to read your posts and they were hilarious. I remember the napuela thing! I've talked to you a couple times, Witchkizzle. I'm in TX also (south Houston).

Congratulations to you all on being done!

I followed a lot of minimority's post.. He was very helpful… Every time I got stuck on a material, I'd do a search on a71 and find mini's helpful posts… I also enjoyed CPAterminator. He was hilarious!

I am still working at a manufacturing company but will be given more responsibility in hopes of getting enough upper level experience to get my CPA license. Still hoping to find a local opening in a CPA firm though, as I think I would enjoy that more. Have lost 15 pounds since Christmas (which I had gained during CPA studying) and working at 15 more. Waiting for my son to pass his final exam – hopefully he will get his passing score this week! Getting back to cooking and housework and knitting and reading, etc. etc. with my extra time. Really looking forward to summer and getting to enjoy some outside time in the sun!

Miss the camaraderie of this site! It was so very helpful while taking the exam to see what everyone else was dealing with, to get questions answered, and just to know that I was not alone in this craziness!

I'm working my first busy season in public accounting, and LOVING IT. I seriously think I was cut out for this. I started working in the tax department of a regional firm in January. I love my coworkers, the work I'm doing, and the work environment.

I agree with witchkizzle though– I feel weird not studying *all the time*… one of the women I work with has a JD and a CPA to do estate planning and I am halfheartedly musing about either law school or an MBA. On the other hand, I can just enjoy my life and enjoy my free time. I passed my last section in November, and I am still grateful every day when I get home from a 10+ hour day at work that I don't have to study.
