I’ve always been a mediocre student, and very inconsistent with studying. However the only consistent thing between me and finishing this exam was to keep on trying. A lot of you may applaud on my effort to never give up, and a lot may also read this and believe I will probably be a pathetic CPA. Both are good opinions, I never gave up, and I might not be a good CPA. However I FREAKING PASSED THE EXAM!! And we can all agree it is not a simple task.

Now…, it took it me 15 attempts, this equates to roughly $3,000 in exam fees over the 3 years I dedicated. Why did it take me 3 years? This is probably a story that has happened many times too much. I broke up with a significant other, began working immediately after college, worked part-time, bought a house, went through legal battles over the course of 5 years because of an automobile accident (proved not guilty), attended too many weddings, got into the whole wild electric music phase and partied too hard, became lazy, became motivated, but overall I was inconsistent. The largest contributing factor to passing was dedication, and like many things in life it depends on attitude (I also listened to a lot of NWA).

I hope this helps your passing Attitude!

Same. Im a better worker than a student. I attempted the CPA exam before but failed because of mediocre study habits and lack of good testing materials.

Decided to buckle down since I will be at an advantage for having it. Passed two out of the three I took in the last six months. Got close with the third one. Retaking FAR soon and planning for reg.

I expect to be done with this whole bloody affair by the end of the next quarter. Can't wait to be done with this.

I monitored this forum discreetly for the motivation needed to finish. And I thank everyone !

I passed my first section, REG, in December 2013 on the second attempt. I thought maybe the rest of the exams wouldn't anymore difficult, and I was totally wrong for believing that. I failed back to back for a year and a half afterwards, getting close to passing but never passing. Then I passed FAR July 2015, and then a failing pattern for the rest of 2015. As cliche as new years resolutions may be, I made a pact with my 2 sisters and 6 brothers, and created a resolution for 2016 to finish the exams. And for the first 4 1/2 months of 2016 I decided to dedicate 100% of every free time I had to finish the exam. It appears that I finished 3 exams at an accelerated rate, but it really was the ~2 years and 9 months of studying inconsistently that built up enough memory to finish the exams. All in all, it was more “brutal” than it needed to be. I have truly learned that time is precious going through this journey, and balancing 2 jobs, life, and studying is possible.

Now with the free time I thought I never had, I am going to law school LOL!!!!! KILL ME NOW

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

T_T, you are the man! your mother must have a tattoo that says son. When you drive a new car off the lot, it increases in value. Your business card simply says “I’ll call you.” Cuba imports cigars from you. Mosquitos refuse to bite you purely out of respect. In museums, you are allowed to touch the art. your personality is so magnetic, you are unable to carry credit cards. Even your enemies list you as their emergency contact number. Toma Dos Equis.
