Just wanted to give everyone a little boost to their studies. 2 years ago today, I sat for REG and passed. 1 year ago today I found out I passed my final section of the CPA exam. Within 1 year I sat and passed all 4 parts!! Now a year later I’m partner of a small CPA firm. If you put your mind to it you can do anything!! Good luck and don’t give up!! It took me 10 years, but I came out on top.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

wow, partner? I appreciate the boost. I just took Far, I feel like I was hit by a bus and the bus backed up to see if I was still breathing. I am so restless. I think I need to move on the next part because I am getting restless. Congrats again, time really goes by fast….especially when you're having so much study fun :-))

Keep the boosts comin….we need veteran support.

JoMarie – if you would be interested in writing an Alumni update on the blog and tell us what you're up to and how passing the exam has changed your career, that would be awesome.

If not – no worries 🙂

Let me be the next addition to this thread. It has been 1 & 1/2 years since I passed the CPA exam. I was licensed as an “Enrolled Agent” since 2002. The EA designation was very helpful however it did not allow me to get to the next level with higher class clients. I have been in public accounting for over 18 years and as of January 1, 2014 I am a full equity partner. The CPA credential does not make you a better accountant is what I hear from a lot of “Non-CPA” accountants and I could not disagree more and here is why:

    1) I hold myself to a higher standard and so does my profession

    2) My peers know that I have been challenged and I have sacrificed to meet that challenge

    3) I do not have to defend why I am not a CPA to potential clients

    4) Clients and potential clients have added confidence that I meet a standard of knowledge and experience

    5) Every time I sign my name I expose my license and reputation to scrutiny

    6) I have to adhere to a set of professional and ethical standards beyond circular 230 of the Internal Revenue Code

Last but not least I need to say I am sorry to my wife and kids that I had to take time away from them to study and commit to passing the CPA exam when I should have done this years ago!!!
