I started working in public accounting 9 months ago and currrently working on my last 2 exams the illinois state board. Does anyone know when I do pass all my exams, would my state board consider my 9 months experience, that is, can I fulfill the work experience requirement before I pass the exams or does it have to be after passing the exam? IF illinois does not count the experience prior to passing, are there any other states that would?

Contact your state board. I wouldn't just take someone's word on an internet forum. Not that people here aren't helpful, on the contrary, but always go to the source for the official answer.

Go to icpas.org. They have email links for questions. They are far more responsive and helpful than IDFPR. IDFPR couldn't answer my simple questions, They just told me to read the laws which were difficult for me to interpret with the upcoming changes for IL becoming a 1 tier state in July 2012.
