If I wait till after the renewal period, I’m exempt from CPE for 6 years since first renewal is exempt. Should I submit before the renewal to become licensed ASAP or after the renewal period and have 6 years to do CPE? I kind of like the thought of not having to worry about CPE credits and also saving money and time by delaying the license. What do you think?

Yeah that might be worthwhile. Of course, at least in person CPE provide valuable networking opportunities.

I wouldn't postpone my application if that was an option for me. It might be good to get in the habit, and I enjoy learning. It's only 40 hours CPE a year.

I wouldn't intentionally hold up my application just to avoid the CPE especially if you intend to job search in the near future. That said, if you're taking your last exam in Q3 I don't think you're likely to be licensed much sooner than Sept 30 anyway.

mla, my last exam is tomorrow, May 31. If I become certified by late June or early July, I will be exempt from this coming September 2015 renewal, but will have to renew in 2018. If I delay, I can wait until 2021! Haha I know I should become licensed as soon as I can but the relaxation part is also enticing too.
