So I’m trying to get all of these exams done before I start work in November and was curious if anybody could inform me on about how long the WA ethics exam takes to complete? I know you have 8 hours and it’s open book but I figured it probably only takes a few hours on average and I thought I’d just ask the forum. While I’m asking, about how long does the AICPA one take as well? Wanna know if I can knock them both out in a day if I just sit and grind them both out.

The WA Ethics test is about 30 questions long and it requires a high pass rate. I think you can only get like 4 wrong total. And it is a goofy little test. You can knock it out in a day but if you don't pass, you have to email the WSCPA again to open the test back up. I think you get like 3 or 4 tries and then you have to take a mandatory 2 week break to “study” before you can try again. It's pretty annoying at first but you actually do a learn a lot of stuff through the process about the WSCPA and the rules.

AICPA is an 8 hour webinar I believe with the exam at the end. Not super crazy. I think the WA ethics one is worse.

I am from Washington state too, and just passed the CPA exams! So, do you recommend to take the AICPA ethics exam or the WA state first? Thanks in advance.

@Rina I have no experience with the WA ethics exam, but I can tell you about the AICPA exam. If you do the online version with a Pdf of the book, there is an exam at the end of the book. I printed that out and took the time to go through the book using ctrl + f to find the answers and mark them on the paper. That ended up being the exam. Overall, it took me about 1 hour.
