    Hi everyone,

I am planning to begin training for VITA this weekend so I’m looking forward to that.

I work at a large private company and I showed my supervisor the checklist that is required to obtain my NJ license. Below is the link if you want to take a look at it:

    https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/acc/Applications/CPA-Instructions-and-Application-for-Licensure-by-Examination.pdf

Page 12 is for Private Industry.

I called the state accountancy board and they said I do not have to fulfill every task mentioned. My supervisor looked at the list and mentioned I would not be able to assist with any preparation of payroll tax or income tax returns.

This is where I was thinking if VITA can help contribute to my experience needed to get my license. I don’t expect it to contribute a huge amount but any experience is better than none.

I’m gonna call the state accountancy board to verify but I wanted to hear other feedback from Jersey and other states.

    Thanks yall.

I attended my first workshop yesterday and asked the coordinator this question. Turns out I can use this experience to count towards obtaining my license 🙂

I would ask your state Board. I would also severely doubt VITA would count since you can't guarantee that they will be CPAs

Passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam!

The coordinator I spoke to is a CPA and said she would vouch for my hours. I'm still gonna verify with the state board just in case.
