UCLA Extentsion classes

    Hi everyone

    I have passed the CPA exam but need 7 accounting credits. So i am thinking of taking three extension classes this winter to get accouting credits and wondering how intentsive these classes might be. I have never taken online courses before and work a full time job. If you have taken them before, please let me know what your experience was like?

    People have some idea that online classes are easier or more laid back than brick and mortar classes. Nothing could be further from the truth. The benefit of the online classes is that you have additional flexibility. You're still going to put in the same # of hours per class if not more, BUT instead of concentrating it in 2 days from 7pm-10pm you can do an hour here and an hour there in the message boards.

    You certainly have to be more disciplined.

    That said I've done 3 online classes while working full time. Wouldn't recommend it long term, but for one semester it won't kill you.

    I did my MSA entirely online. I loved the flexibility but I agree with everything mla1169 said. Some of my classes were graded based on just 2 exams so it's important to follow the syllabus and still do all the work! But it's definitely easier to do it with flexible schedule and after studying for the CPA exam, some online classes should be easy! 🙂

    Do it from SMC if u can. It's much cheaper with the same result.

    I earned all my credits from UCLA Extension.. online and on campus. The online classes were a lot easier… but sometimes require more time. Many of the teachers require that you log onto Blackboard (the online classroom) a few times a week to keep you active. My best suggestion is try and find the syllabus online before you sign up for a class. But like someone else mentioned, you can probably find something a lot cheaper somewhere else.
