My FAR review and rants.
Multiple Choice
MC #1 – Not bad, about 18 – 20 of the 30 were calculations, only a few with complex calculations.
MC #2 – Harder, but not significantly than MC #1. Fewer calculations than MC #1 and I had to make a wild guess on about five.
MC #3 – Harder, but not significantly than MC #1. More calculations than MC #2 and I had to make a wild guess on about five.
All three banks covered the content areas pretty well. One topic didn’t seem to be tested more than others based on the content breakdowns.
SIMS
If I didn’t have to make assumptions on the information provided the simulations were not that bad.
SIM #1 – Clearly understood what was required.
SIM #2 – I don’t say this lightly, but this simulation was complete and utter crap. I understand the topic covered very well, but I had to make an assumption on every answer as relevant information was omitted.
SIM #2 – See #2 above.
SIM #4 – Research.
SIM #5 – Clearly understood what was required.
SIM #6 – Clearly understood what was required.
SIM #7 – I aced this one.
Finished with about 3 minutes left. Also, I would like to think the AICPA could actually develop an actual 10 key that works like a 10 key. I do enjoy not having to type out a memo on the simulations.
