I have checked several accredited online universities but they are all too expensive!

Anyone can suggest a way to satisfy the credit hour requirement (For new york)? I am short on 17 credits!

    Thanks in advance

LSU Online is reasonably priced, ~$500 for 3 credit hours.

    Licensed CPA
Passed each section on the first try with Ninja Notes/MCQ/Audio

If you live in NY why not enroll in one of the CUNYs? They're some of the most affordable colleges around.

HAha… I wish i lived in New York. I don't even live in the U.S… But i wanted to get licensed in New york cause i MIGHT move to the states in the near future, specifically to New york…. I will get a Master's degree in a couple of years but i wanted to speed the licensing process with any college credit i can get.

** U.S CPAs are highly in demand where i live (Incase you were wondering why on earth would someone from another country want to be licensed in the U.S.A)…………

    @wombataholic
    Thanks, I will check it

Isn't community college considered accredited? I met my 150 and I only have my undergrad. This was because of constant major changes during the early years until I finally felt accounting was my calling. All those “wasted” classes going to other majors counted toward my 150 and I met all accounting requirements through Loyola's undergrad program. Just have a college in mind, see if they have online accounting courses, and review it with your State board.

I'm in the same boat as DunkinDonutsJunkie.

Look into a community college. They're pretty cheap. The county I live in will do out of state or out of country distance learning for $210.50 per credit hour. You'd be all in for $3,578.50 plus books (if you don't find pirated copies online for free).

You should try to get NY State Board of Accountancy to verify anything you plan on doing just to be safe. Colleges aren't cheap here.

@Luma196 – Take CLEP exams. I took a Intro to Sociology for 3 credits and Analyzing and Interpreting Lit for 6 credits. Earned 9 credits in under 4 hours.

I had these credits transferred and put on my transcript.

@Snoboarder328, I was just looking into CLEP. which colleges take CLEP credits and put it on transcript? Without any additional required courses to take at the college that accepts them! Seems to me this is the most affordable and flexible way available!!!! After HOURS of searching!! But what do these accredited colleges charge for the credit transfer?

@billbrasskey I found many online community colleges up to this moment with similar prices ($3,500)… I think i am going to use the CLEP way (credit by examination)… Very cheap, and you can transfer the exam scores to an accredited university which will print it on transcript….. approx $100 per test!! and each test offers 3-4 college credits! But now i'm going to check the transfer process

Thank you guys for the replies! and good luck!!!

I did the CPA Excel/UNA classes to earn 15 units. It is $475 per 3 unit course, but the material is literally CPA review material and so if you are already studying, you can get this done while studying for the CPA exam.

    Wiley CPAexcel

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Great info, guys. I have 150+ credits, but am shy 9 (accounting specific) credits for licensing, I just today registered for a course on acct computer software (basically learning quickbooks and turbo tax). I made sure to contact my state board to see if it would apply to my license, as it seems so basic and “simple” to apply. I didn't even consider taking courses from online schools, as community colleges have only so many upper level ACC classes I haven't already taken, and I'm not about to shell out $1K + taking classes at local universities. I'll have to check them out for the remaining 6 credits next year.

I'm feeling ballsy as I also just started study prep (that's haven't actually began studying, but planning to prepare for) taking FAR in Q4, for which I do have a fear that while working approx. 50 hrs/week, I might not be able to keep up with all 3 obligations, but here's hoping.
