TN License Packet

    I’m starting to think that the TNBOA has decided that since I’m accustomed to waiting on test scores, that must mean I’m totally comfortable with the idea of waiting on my initial licensure packet. Here’s a brief recap of what I’ve done since I passed during the first window of ’11.

    Passed the ethics exam during the first week of April.

    Called the TNBOA 2 times in order to inquire about the whereabouts of my licensure packet.

    Emailed the TNBOA a copy of my work experience affidavit.

    Results of my efforts – nada… so friends, here’s my question to you. What is the longest anyone has ever had to wait in order to receive their licensure packet?

    I found out I had passed everything by the end of November 2010 and I received my application packet late January 2011.

    I sent the packet back within two days of receiving it and my license was granted in early March 2011.

    Is anyone else waiting on initial packet from TN? I just found out that I passed so I am just trying to prepare myself if the wait is usually 4 months!

    Has anyone from TN that passed this past window received a congratulatory letter or anything yet?

    @CPA2010TN

    I decided to sign up for this forum after being just observer through the score process. I believe I had an ID with another email but I can't remember it, however I never logged in anyway. Anyway I am a TN candidate that passed my last part in September too and I have not received anything yet either. Just thought I would let you know.

    Does Tennessee take a really long time? I plan to certify there because I lived there for a while and plan on moving back.

    I found out I passed my last part (FAR) in August 2011. So I contacted NASBA right away and was told that the files of all of the CPA candidates that passed all parts would be sent to the TN state board starting October 14,2011. So I contacted the TN state board and was told that once they have your file and all your eggs are in a row. Then they send out the application and once they receive it back it usually takes about two to four weeks to get your license For those who don't know the TN CPA process requirement. Before you get your license# you have to 1. Take the ethics exam 2.Have a year of experience in which a CPA has to sign off on.

    Just wanted to give everyone an update. I passed my last test in July and found out I passed on Sept 17th. I received my congratulatory letter in the mail yesterday saying that they have received all my scores. The letter also stated that I need to take the ethics exam (which I have already completed) and that once they receive that score they will send the application packet.

    I'm a TN candidate too. I didn't realize there was an ethics exam. Yikes! It's a take home exam, correct? Should I get that now or wait until I pass the exams…?

    Good question..I am in Tennessee also, can we take the ethics exam before we pass all four parts? I just submitted my experience affidavit….I am glad now after reading cpa2010tn's experience in the wait time. UGH!

    @CPA2010TN

    I received my letter yesterday too. I have also already taken the ethics exam. Now just a little more waiting I guess.

    @yankeeaccountant

    I was told by someone at the state board you can take the ethics exam before you pass all four parts.

    WOW! LOTS of Tennessee candidates here. Me too. And you guys are freakin me out. I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait 4 months just for the application after finally getting through all these sections.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

    @jjm1181 and @yankeeaccountant

    Yes, it is a test you take at home and submit your scores online. You can also complete it before you finish all four parts, but remember your score is only good for a certain length of time. I took mine after I took my last test and I was just waiting for my score. This seemed to work out the best. Glad I could help!
