I just passed four sections of the exam after studying five months full-time. I am CA candidate and have applied for and passed exam, but I live in IL. My family had originally planned to move to CA, but later decided to stay in IL, so I needed a little bit of change in my plan to getting licensure.
I have four years of work experience as an accounting manager in GA and IL prior to passing the exam. I was planning to apply for licensure in state of IL, but my friend advised that it is better to get licensure in CA and transfer it to IL because it is easier to get licensed under tier I system in CA. (I satisfy all educational & work experience requirements under tier I in CA assuming CA acknoledges work experience accumulated before passing the exam, which IL does not. )
Will I get be considered as applicant under tier I if I submit my application in October? (I will be out of the state for month for marriage, and my application will be stuck in the middle of this year and next year) Or should CBA have received all the necessary document as part of my application within this year?
Another concern: I am not sure if my previous employer can sign off for my work experience. There’s only one person, CFO, who holds active CPA license, but he started working at my previous workplace only two months before I resigned. Technically, he did not supervise my work for two years. Also, CBA booklet says if I were to prove my work experience out of state of CA, I would need to submit different kind of proof of work experience, which makes me even more confused even before I ask my former employer for sign off. Yes, I worked in GA for four years before passing the exam, and the CPA holder started working in NJ two months before my resignation.
Any one had similar experience with me?
Your answer is sincerely appreciated.
