Do I have to get licensed within a given period of time after passing all four parts of the CPA Exam? I wonder if this is somethings only certain states have, or if it is universal amongst all states.

I am mainly interested in the case for California, but general answers are appreciated as well. Thanks.

Any more state info? MA?? I can't find it in the CMR (Code of Mass. Regulations) or MGL (Mass. General Laws) at all.. I guess I'll email the board again.

In MN it is 3 yrs, though I've heard that they charge you if you wait more than 6 months to apply…

For CA, you have 5 years (see bottom of page 17 of the pdf below) after passing the CPA exam and 2 years after passing the Ethics exam.

    See https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/publications/applbook.pdf

    Hope this helps.

    @ Almond…

I wrote the Board in MA, and got a response basically saying as long as you comply with the educational requirements within 3 years of passing all four parts the scores themselves will never expire. For me, I passed in August but won't be finished with the education until December – but once I finish in December I don't think my scores will ever be stale dated…

Does anyone know if New York has such a requirement?
