The Experience/Ethics Requirements

So I have loads of experience (well for a young guy at least). Almost 5 years.

So my questions is this: When I take my last sections in July (Pray for me XD) what do I do?

Can I get my experience verified even before I get more scores to reduce wait time for the license? Can I take the ethics exam before I get my scores? The Uniform exam is such a messy heap of trash to wade through I’ve never even thought of life after it!

Oh, and how do you verify experience? In the old days it was pretty informal (i.e., there were many liars!) I hear, but how is it now? Can someone tell me the process? Do I just call up one of my old CPA bosses and ask them to sign a letter and mail it to NASBA?

I’d love the license ASAP. How long does it usually take to get after you get your last score?

The time to get your license depends entirely on your state.

As for the experience verification, I'm in CT and I requested mine before I received my last score. I had to be licensed by a specific date to get my promotion, so I was in a time crunch. I passed the ethics exam with 2 sections of the exam left, and had my experience submitted with one left.

The approach to getting the experience completed may differ from state to state. In CT, there was a standard form from the Board of Accounting. I filled out most of the form and sent it to our business unit's HR rep. She then sent it to our office managing partner for signing.

Check with your state board – there may be a specific form they have that needs to be filled out. They should have guidelines on who should sign it for you.
