I’ve worked community service for elder people’s tax return with supervising with local CPA.

Is this count for work experience?

    I live in Texas.

Do I have to be employed to get a job experience it means it has to be full time work?

Please anybody help me to define and clearify the work experience.

    thanks in advance.

I also live in Texas and thought I would chime in with my experience:

I worked for a private CPA practice under a CPA for 2.5 years part time. We recorded every single hour. When I went to apply for my license, the CPA called the Board for clarification and they said none of the part time hours worked would count towards my CPA. I think because it wasn't full time? Even thought I worked directly with a CPA and it says part time is ok and we recorded it all meticulously.

Thankfully I work for Big 4 though and I just passed my 1 year full time mark. I wonder if they said no to the part time because I was so close to completing my full time 1 year experience and it was just easier. I had been planning on using a combo of both jobs to apply for my license but it didn't work out.

I'm not sure if I answered your question but I hope that helps. Keep in mind the CPA has to vouch for you and put their license number down, include a job description of what you did AND a description of what they do/their experience.

    FAR: 72, 68, 73, 78 (passed)
    REG: 61, 70, 73, 63, 78 (passed)
    AUD: 65, 84 (passed)
    BEC: 89 (passed)

NASBA gave Doby a passing score, Doby is freeee!!

Here is a link for the tsbpa work experience form: https://www.tsbpa.state.tx.us/forms/issuance-cpa-certificate.html

The specific instructions are second from the bottom in the document titled “Instructions for Completing the Work Experience Form (X0002)”

I recommend calling the tsbpa to ask about your community tax preparation experience or asking the CPA that reviews the returns. The CPA may get this question from other people as well.

As I've been told before, the TSBPA has final say on the work experience part. In addition to your own WE, they also consider the qualifications of the CPA supervising you. It's so they don't have newly certified CPAs going around and signing off on other candidates.

So, it's either your WE or your supervisors qualifications that they are having issues with. This is what I'm deathly afraid of, passing the exam and having this blow up in my face.

When you guys call the TSBPA, are you talking to the person assigned to your file? They are the best people to ask specific questions because they see your information versus a random person working for the state board. I have heard horror stories of people getting misleading information because they asked the first person who answers the phone.

This link also gives their email addresses. The person I am assigned to has been very helpful, but it can take a while for him to get back to me.
