Taking CLEP for elective hours (12 hours)

My understanding is that I can take CLEP to replace elective hours. I graduated, so I won’t be in school while taking CLEP. Would the board still accept these credits? I called the FL accounting board to ask, but haven’t gotten any clear answer back. Has anyone had this problem?
