I am lost on what is now the format of the simulations. Are they offically back to being the tabs are related and shorter, or are they were the tabs are unrelated topics with multiple problems? I took REG (74) in November 2009 and ran out of time with the unrelated format. Retook REG in Feb 2010 and rushed through the multple choice questions expecting to need much more time to do the sims. But they were back the related tabs and were not as time consumming. Finished 45mins early. I am pretty sure I failed it again because of my rushing.

Now I am not sure what stratgey to use and how much time I should give each testlet.

What is the format going to be in April 2010?

melstar – There is no set format for simulations as far as the tabs being related or not. It is the luck of the draw on the simulations whether you they are related or not. I took REG on Feb 2, 2010 and one of my simulations the tabs were somewhat related and on the other one they were not related. You just need to plan your time strategy to leave about 45 minutes per simulation but do not rush through the multiple choice since those 72 MCQ are worth 70% of your grade. If you take out the test questions of approx 4 per testlet then the number drops to 60 MCQ which are worth 70%. Since there are fewer MCQ in REG than the others it is extremely important in my mind that you do not rush through them. They can make or break your exam in my opinion. You should plan a strategy of about 25 min testlet 1, 30 min testlet 2 and 35 min testlet 3, this will leave you the 45 mins for each simulation. Good Luck.

Melstar I can relate to your post to some extent. I took REG too back in Nov and scored 74, was devastated. I did extremely well on the mutiple choice, was even stronger than those who passed. I blow the SIMs as they were very hard, had to compute almost everything, nothing like picking from a drop down list. I plan to take it next month thinking to rush through the multiple choice as it appears you did, but with your post I'm wondering maybe the SIMs will not be all that bad this time around, but I don't know. Thus in a nutshell to your question, I'll say the format of the SIM's are completely random and you can never tell. Good luck!

Lee, I also had a sim with unrelated tabs. From what I've read, I thought I would be in Wave 2 because of it. I've heard that this type of sim will be comparable to the new format, and thought it was an ungraded test sim but I would be pushed back into Wave 2. Apparently, this may not be the case as you have already received your score with a similar sim.

I found both in AUD and REG that some sims have related tabs, others do not. It isn't always one way or the other.
