Does anyone else get sick before they take their exams? I’ve taken each section twice, and I’ve gotten sick before every single exam. I’m sure that it has a lot to do with stress.

For example, right now my nose won’t stop running, my left eye hurts, and my head hurts (pretty sure I have some serious nasal congestion) and I feel nautious to boot. I’m seeing my doctor at lunch, will follow up with diagnosis. Might even be allergies, who knows!

All I know is I’m sick of being sick during these exams! I’ve never gotten sick so often in my life! Hopefully this will all be over with after this Friday when I take AUD. :o)

Turns out I just have really bad allergies since the weather has been insane where I live. Our week long severe allergy season has turned into a month long season. My doctor was nice enough to prescribe me a medicine that will completely dry my nose up right before my exam so that I can make it through without having to take 100 breaks to blow my nose.

I blame the CPA exam for the long allergy season! It's out to get me! 😉

I started having problems with my eyes watering and itching in early April. I studied without my contacts as much as possible and changed them more frequently than usual, but the problem never completely went away. I didn't wanted to take the time to see the doctor but finally had to about a week before I took BEC because they were bothering me so much. I don't think he believed how much time I was spending studying so he attributed the problem to an allergic reaction to my contact solution even though I've used it for years. He recommended a new solution and gave me some eyedrops. The drops helped but didn't completely fix the problem. Amazingly, though, my eyes were fine 3 days after I took the exam even though I never bothered to change my contact solution. It's funny what sitting in front of a computer or reading small print all day can do to you.

I dont know about getting sick before exams…but last time I took FAR I was in major need of some comfort food and had mexican food for lunch right before the test….ya, that wasnt such a great idea…mexican food, stress, and nervousness DO NOT make for a happy stomach…LOL

i am about to take my first exam and i am sick (super stressed / feel yucky / cough, etc). i definitely think there is a correlation.

@kb24 – I had to completely give up on contacts. I wear glasses now. I'm not sure if it's all because of the CPA exam… but I definitely didn't have a problem with contacts until I started studying for this exam. Now I'm using Restasis (I'm only 25, dry eye is unusual at my age) and using steroid drops pretty often for inflamation. Maybe my eyes will get better like yours did! I'd love to be able to wear contacts again…

@kaaCPA – Good luck! I hope that you feel better before Friday. Relax, the CPA exam is only as scary as you make it out to be. You can do it! 🙂
