Should I take the Ethics Exam while waiting for my first score to come through?

Why not take Ethics and get it out of the way so I don’t feel like I am wasting my time? I have to wait at least 10 days, so I can knock it out and when I am done with my exam sections I am that much closer.

I'm in OK, so my ethics requirements may or may not be the same as yours…

    But,

I orded the book (not the cd) from my state board for a discount.

Sat down with the book and the scantron. All of the questions are in the back of the book and the questions go in order with the book chapters.

40 questions only took about an hour and a half. Then I went to my computer to submit my answers online. I missed one on my first attempt, so I got a 98.

If you use the cd, im sure the process is a little different. I was told that the cd was in video form so that turned me off =)

If, in your state, all you are required to do is take this exam for ethics, then it is really not a hard task at all.

It is in no way close to the difficulty of the exam. Purely red tape… The most painful part of it was shelling out the $100 =/

Half of the ethics “exam” is on independence. I would actually recommend you wait until you're about to sit for AUD. I saw two or three questions on my AUD exam that weren't in my review materials at all, but were in the Ethics section. If I'd done that first, I would have gotten at least two more right. There were also PLENTY of questions on the Ethics section that were also in the AUD portion, so it serves for some fairly decent review right before you sit for AUD.

I got the CD. It took about 5 hours, although 8 is the stated time required. I think I remember reading you're in TN, Chris. If so, get the course from the TN website. It's only $119. If you get it from AICPA, it's $149. The link is

It looks like it's a seminar registration, but it isn't. You “register”, and they send you the CD and the scantron, although you can go online after you're through filling in your answers and submit them that way and get your score immediately.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

I agree with katiekanton, it might be useful for you to study audit and ethics at the same time. in addition, studying ethics would also help in REG, so i would suggest you study ethics after you took audit and regulation, might be easier on passing the ethics exam 🙂 just my opinion.
