After reading through all of the rules regarding reciprocity, I noticed that there are certain grey areas that unfortunately apply to me. I am a soon to be NY State CPA (application is being processed using NY’s unbelievably slow 3 month system) and would like to obtain a CT License once I meet the 2 year work experience requirement. I was planning on doing this by applying for a reciprocal CT CPA Certificate and Initial License (CT has two steps where a certificate is needed before one can obtain a license). Now if I were to do this would I have to maintain my NY license for years in order to keep the CT License, or would I be able to allow the NY License expire if I no longer need it? If I need to maintain this “original” NY License, is reciprocity required? If not then I guess I could just apply for an initial certificate and license in CT so there is no connection between the two.
If anyone can lend some helpful advice I would really appreciate it. I have had trouble getting any info from the state board as no one I talk to has any clue.. Thanks!
