Question regarding sitting for the exam with 120 hours

Can I take the exam with 120 hours and no experience, then complete the requirements (both experience and education) while working after I pass?

If I’m from California, could I pass the CPA exam with 120 hours, and then go on to simply fulfill my 2 years work experience under pathway 1? I realize that pathway 1 will no longer be an option after 2014, but if I pass before that and apply for licensure before 2014 (and accumulate the work experience after 2014) could I still take advantage of pathway 1?

Anyone may sit for the CPA exam so long as they have met the education requirements, and may fulfill the experience requirements at a later time before applying for their license. When I started sitting for the exam, it was right out of college, and I did not yet have any work experience (although I met all the education requirements). (I'm in CA by the way)

So at a minimum, you need to have completed all the education requirements prior to sitting for the exam.

I don't know about the requirements for being grandfathered in under pathway 1 before Jan 2014.
