Question on the Experience requirement

My manager is not a CPA but his supervisors (CFO and Controller) are. The controller and CFO don’t review my work or they do but I’m not aware of it. My question is do I get credit for that or would a CPA be required to be my direct supervisor I report to. Anything would help. Thanks.

It varies by state, but I believe that you'll be ok.

Check with your state board to find out if the person who signs off on your work needs to be your “direct supervisor”.

In most cases, I believe your situation is fine.

But, the person who signs off needs to agree to it, also. This person is taking some responsibility for you, by agreeing that you competently completed the work requirements. So it needs to be someone who is familiar enough with your work to say that. I would guess that your upper supervisors would be ok doing that, but once you check with your board, check directly with the CFO to ask if he is willing.

In MO at least it doesn't even have to be a CPA in your company in the same state. My boss' license expired, but I had a CPA in AR who has had at least indirect knowledge of my work experience over the past few years.
