I was hoping someone may help me. I just passed the exam. I sat for the exam in New York and now I’m looking to obtain my initial license. I meet all the requirements for licensure in NY. However, I live in GA. I do not plan to work as a public accountant. I’m more of a corporate accountant on the Controller track. Right now, I’m applying for jobs. If I’m working and living in GA but I’m not necessarily working in public accounting or representing myself as a business offering CPA services, do I need to have a GA CPA license? Can I still call myself a CPA, for instance on my resume, if I’m not licensed in the State where I intend to work? all I want is to have my CPA title on my resume and business card. Also, I meet the NYS experience requirement, but I do not meet the GA requirement. For an initial license, GA requires that your 1 year work experience be completed within 1 year prior to the date of the application. NYS just requires a year of experience. Since I’ve been out of work for more than a year now, I meet NYS requirement, not Georgia’s.
Thank you in advance for your time in helping me. .
Tim
