I live in PA. The education requirements relating to accounting courses say:

“…and completed a total of twenty-four semester credits of accounting and auditing, business law, finance or tax subjects of a content satisfactory to the board and an additional twelve semester credits in accounting, auditing and tax subjects of a content satisfactory to the board, not necessarily as part of the individual’s undergraduate or graduate work.”

I called the board and they said I can use any mix as long as it hits the requirement of class title (Ex: ACC, AUD, etc)

    So here’s my assessment…am I correct?

“12 semester credits in accounting, auditing and tax subjects”

    ACC 330 Auditing

    ACC 317 Tax Accounting 1

    ACC 323 Advanced Accting

    ACC 306 Advanced Cost Accting

“24 semester credits of accounting and auditing, business law, finance or tax subjects”

    ACC 321 Intermediate Accting 1

    ACC 322 Intermediate Accting 2

    ACC 121 Financial Accounting

    ACC 305 Cost Accounting

    ACC 312 Accounting Info Sys

    BUS 332 Business Law 2

FIN 360 Finan. Mkts and Inst.

    FIN 351 Personal Fin. Planning

**All courses are 3 credits. I also have 2 more classes: Managerial Accounting and Bus Law 1

***Total of all accounting, auditing, bus law, finance, and tax=42 credits

My plan is to pass all 4 exams then catch up on the remaining 27 credits.

    1) Was I correct above that I already have all of the accounting classes necessary to apply for the license?

    2) For the remaining 27, can I just take any classes in order to get to 150? Basket weaving? lol. I’m not going for my Master’s right now.

    I am from PA also.

When I called asking about credits, they said most finance and economics course will not fall under the scope of the accounting-specific courses they want. It is all in the course codes. You might want to get a pre-evaluation or speak with your advisor at school.

For the remaining credits, you can literally take whatever to get to 150. I took a creative writing course, horticulture course, etc.

    FAR - 76! 10/15; (65) 7/15
    BEC - 82! 11/15; (74) 8/15
    AUD - 01/16
    REG - TBA

Okay I could probably swap out bus law 1 and managerial accounting for the finance courses. Yeah I just want to take the easiest classes I can go get to 150

I don't blame you. Not going to lie, they were a lot of “busy work” classes, but they were a nice deviation from my typical business courses.

BTW: How was FAR? I saw you recently took it and I am planning on taking mine in a few weeks. Just looking for generic advice. I've been watching the lectures and doing MCQs/SIMs (but not religiously — I can only devote a few hours a day to studying as I still work). I am doing the Becker self-study.

I would add ninja mcq if possible. I had Wiley and thought it was a waste so I got the ninja 10 or combo. Crammed MCQs until test day. Also I printed out a packet of possible journal entries and went over it a few times until I had a good grasp on everything. Read ninja notes the morning of the test. I think I got lucky with my sims I didn't think they were too bad. The journal entries are a nice help…as much as I thought I knew, on test day doing that definitely helped
