Can a CPA licensed in Texas sign off on my experience if I’m sitting in Louisiana and I’ll be licensed in Louisiana?

    FAR - 76

For a California license, you can have your experience signed off by an active out-of-state CPA but there is an additional step in getting proof from the out-of-state licensing board that the CPA is legit.

I found this on the State Board's website, but you may want to talk to Mr. Cognevich.

“The CPA supervisor may confirm the dates, job titles and description of the applicant’s experience with the employer — if this is appropriate to the employer organization. In any event, licensed CPA supervisor(s) must provide letter(s) to the applicant (addressed to the State Board) explaining and confirming the supervision with the application. (By “licensed” we mean a CPA who has an active right to practice in some state and is taking and reporting mandatory CPE to his/her state board.) Any period of time in which the CPA / supervisor’s license has lapsed, would typically not be counted by the Board.”

He should be able to. My cpa supervisor is inactive in Louisiana and in retired status in Texas but he was active in Texas during the four years prior to my getting licensed (he had to supervise me during the the time he was licensed.) Mr. Cognevich told me that as long as my supervisor held an active license in any state while he was supervising me within the four years prior to my obtaining my license then he could sign off.
