Question About Receiving the AICPA Certificate

    Hi all,

First time posting on the forums here =D I have been lucky and fortunate enough to pass my last AICPA exam last month with the help of the Wiley test bank purchased on Another71 as well as stories of inspiration from all of you. I cannot thank you enough.

I am wondering, for the certificate, do we not have to do anything after we pass the exam; and our respective boards (mine’s California btw) will e-mail it to us upon finding out that we passed all four sections? Also, how long does it take for them to mail it to us because I work in a Big 4 firm in Hong Kong and the HR specified that I must show them my certificate to prove my completion of the exams before they increase my pay. I am under a bit of rent pressure at the moment and am willing to try anything to help speed up the process (and get my pay raise faster!) – I am thinking of calling them directly and negotiating but unfortunately haven’t been able to get a hold of them due to time zone differences (What are their official hours anyway? I couldn’t find it on the Cali CPA Board).

If anyone has been through similar situations before, any help will be appreciated by this lost wandering sheep, thanks so much!

Congrats! I would give the California state board a call and let them know you have passed all 4 sections of the CPA exam and ask what's next. This will help get things rolling. You don't always have to wait until you get a congratulatory letter. I recall that I didn't for Massachusetts.

Oh shoot, I just realized that might be tough for you to call them with the time zone difference. Can you email them maybe?

You won't get anything from the AICPA. You will get a letter saying you passed 4 parts from NASBA. That letter does not make you a CPA, you still need to take the Ethics exam if you haven't already, and apply for a license to be a CPA. Someone from CA can probably give you more guidance on the process to apply for a license.
