Excuse me if this is a dumb question but I need some advice.

I have personal debt that the collector just sent a judgment for to the court. I know I should have not let it get this far, I do not want to get into details regarding this but it is not a large amount and I will be paying it off now.

But my question is besides it looking horrible on my credit report during background check.. can a judgment keep me from getting my cpa license?

Two things. First, as bigfour said, you've gotten your answer multiple times.

Second, for something as important as this, go straight to the source and call your state board of accountancy. It is very unwise to seek out answers to questions that could affect your career on an anonymous message board.

Unfortunately state board doesn't give a direct answer. They said after you send in your application it will be evaluated so I have to depend on an anonymous message board to ease my nerves until I actually send in my application.

Thanks for the help. Hoping a judgment is the same as a debt and has no effect on license.

It sounds like you weren't expecting any positive feedback from this thread, this thread shouldn't have started in the first place. Just saying…

you being in debt have nothing to do with getting a license, it will somehow affect you in terms of getting job, not a license.

You can have a license and still be unemployed.
