So I have finished the 3/4’s of the exam, but it was brought to my attention that I might not get my Lic. I was convicted of Misrep of age in college IE obtaining beer before I was 21. My friend said any confiction for any misrep. discludes me from the CPA. Does anyone know if this is true? This is my only issue and would suck if it is the case considering it was 15 years ago and I was a kid (but 18)

A misdemeanor charge (minor consumption) did not prevent a co-worker from getting her CPA license her in Indiana. To take it a step further, how would the Board even know? A misdemeanor charge dating back that far wouldn't show up in a normal background check – at least not the ones I've seen. We even searched my co-worker's records and it was not present.

Call your state board and ask for clarification. They do ask you certain questions when you first apply to sit for the CPA exam. For example, have you been convicted of a felony, DUI etc. If you disclosed your situation then and they approved your NTS you should be fine but I'm not sure. Every state has it's own rules so if you can't get licensed in your state maybe you can see if another other state will.

I know of someone that has a possession of alcohol on her record and she has her cpa. I think you are fine.
