So after reading about this guy that forged his COE and the CBA found out and issued and immediately revoked his license, I searched his name and came across the CBA and found it interesting that they publish the CPA crimes and disciplinary actions taken by the board, including reimbursement of legal investigation fees..aka the fees incurred by the CBA to investigate you-one guy’s desc. said not to exceed $50k :O. My (AZ) state board doesn’t publish this information, however it is available upon request. I was not even aware boards did this. However, it was a bit of a shock factor seeing all the different reasons how and why they might suspend or revoke your license and to which accountancy practice it related to.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the AICPA also publishes these types of issues. Part of my accounting research course was about disciplinary actions. I guess it is a means to thwart future violations.

The Arkansas Board sends out a quarterly newsletter in which it includes among other things exam pass rates, new licensees, revocations, disciplinary cases, new firms, etc. Wouldn't want my name being emailed out to all of the CPAs in the state for disciplinary action haha!

Revoking for forgery is an exam question ? Ethics questions? ….but I am sure they will publish according to the state guidelines.

    It begins with a 75

Yeah my state board publishes all tgat stuff too. Most common fee seems to be against candidates who are calling themselves CPAs but aren't licensed yet. The funniest one I read was about a CPA who knew he was gonna get fired so messed up his firm's client mailing list lol.

I just don't think the deep emotional scars and brain trauma the CPA exam caused would ever let me do something unethical to risk losing my (hopefully issued soon) license. Maybe that's the point of the exam and it only works on some lol

@law0915 I'm the same way. There was something relative to taxes that I know usually no one reports and Granny was like “Oh, just skip it – you'll save money” and I was like “Uhh no, I'm not risking my license to save some money on taxes”. Yeah, I'd never get caught, but no, I'm not going to risk it!

I think this stuff is published in a magazine too… I like to read through and see if there is anyone I know… So far, so good. Lots of incompetent CPA's issuing bad NPO financials.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I know the Minnesota BOA publishes disciplinary actions on their website.

The funniest violation I read about was from California, a CPA candidate admitted cheating on his ethics exam. The CA BOA issued him a license, just so they could revoke it.
