I got Bachelor’s in Accounting and MBA in 2008 and 2010 respectively while working as an accounting/business tutor at the University. Worked as a tutor and math professor during my long journey through the CPA exam; which I finally passed in February πŸ™‚

I had to resign from my tutoring position this year, due to policy changes at the University, so I am currently working solely as a math professor (which I love but sadly doesn’t advance my career) while searching EVERYWHERE for an accounting position without any relevant experience! πŸ™‚

Due to the low number of call backs/interviews with subsequent rejections, I am looking to polish up my resume (especially since I have zero relevant experience). After researching “professional resume builders” I am unsure if their services/results are worth the expense.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of service? Any other suggestions for improving my resume?

    Thank you πŸ™‚

G3–We have similar education so I'll tell you what I did to get experience that a lot of people seem not to agree with on here. I took temp/contract accounting positions after I got my MBA. I learned the full scale accounting process from Cash applications to AP to inventory accounting over a year or two to get the relevant experience. That experience + my MBA got my foot in the door at a good company and then I was promoted to accounting manager (AKA Assistant Controller) after a couple of years. I don't know if that helps you or not since you already have your CPA and may be looking for something higher up to start with, but while you are waiting for that, it may not hurt to look into some of those other things. I just hired a staff accountant with no accounting experience. I got her from Accountants International (Don't remember who bought them). There options out there. Good luck!

Thank you @Mamabear, for the experience advice. I am very aware that both education and experience are needed. Since I have one and not the other, your success story is very encouraging πŸ™‚

Thank you @John Tucker, I will look into that site.
