I am making a career change at the age of 36 from a logistics and customer service background. I just earned my accounting degree and have been applying at accounting jobs both private and public with no luck yet.

I have confidence I can study and pass the 4 sections of the CPA exam but I am on the fence. Are there any HR people or anyone on this forum that are involved in the hiring process for public accounting positions that can give me some advice?

Is somebody with no accounting experience but who has passed the 4 sections marketable or would I be wasting my time?

Do you know anytone currently in a finance job that can refer you to a finance recruiter? Preferably one that doesn't make you feel like taking a shower after speaking to them, they are out there!

I think a recruiter can you tell what the job market is like out there right now and what would be available to you, specifically where you live.

In my experience you will most likely only be considered for entry level jobs, which I think are ok if they are in a company that is known for promoting from within.

I am someone who is 36 and just passed all four sections. I was in the banking field for 15 years as a branch manager for most of those. If you can pass it…then pass it. Do it now since the info is real fresh. Take FAR first…..

Think beyond the paycheck you need tomorrow. Get a stress free job for the next 6-12 months get that beast out of your way. If you want to talk strategy about the exam let's talk but do it and do it now. That's my two cents….good luck either way!!!!!
