I’m so glad that I’m done with my exam. Do I have to wait to get any certificate from the Board of Examiners before I can apply for the license with IDFPR?

Also, do I have to include the ethic’s certificate of completion with the application?

Please help !!

No u dont need to wait for anything from board except obviously you must be certain they have received your scores including ethics which hou can berify online. Theres an area on ilboa website that u can have ur scores directly sent to idfpr electronicslly at no cost. I recommend this bc u will have proof of submittal

How does the experience requirement work? Does it have to be public accounting or can it be any accounting experience as long as a CPA signs off on it?

I was reading up on this yesterday. It seems like you have to have your employer fill out a portion of the application for IDFPR. They indicate your experience, and also from what I have read it is pretty broad, like you don't have to specifically be a “public accountant” to receive the credit.

ILBOA says you should wait until they issue your certificate number before applying to IDFPR. Once your ethics score is received by the ILBOA they will process it and post a certificate number that you can use to complete the application for complete licensure.

I called ILBOA today. It was a rather annoying phone call. I had the pleasure of speaking to an older gentlemen who sound clueless with the whole process of getting certified and licensed.

Anyways, I also took my final exam on 11/29/14 and received my final score on 12/9/14. I completed my CPE requirement months ago. The guy informed me that the paper score just came in today – 12/18/14. He told me that I would receive my certification number until after 1/5/15 because IT department had to put the score/list together and it would not be done by 12/23 (when the department goes on break).

I was a little annoyed of how long it took and assumed that the list was rather large (over 100). But as soon as he told me it was about 50 people who completed the exam, I ask him, “How long could it take to pull a list from your database and put it on a spreadsheet?”

I couldn't take talking to the guy anymore and asked for the manager. He put me on hold and then came back to tell me that my certification number will be ready in 1-3 business days. I told him I will be calling back on Monday if I don't get my score updated on the website.

From what I gathered, They send the list to IDFPR the 15th and 30th of every month. I'm going to assume that they will be sending it to IDFPR after their break since I didn't make the 15th deadline. The application process will also take another month or so before I can finally get licensed. I am a patient person but Illinois has to be the slowest and most inefficient state when it comes to CPA stuff.

denden7k – I called ILBOA few days ago and the gentleman who took the phone didn't had a clue, so I decided not to waste my time and his time 🙂 . IL is one of the slowest state to process licenses. I passed my Ethics only on 12/16/14, so my score, too, will be send after holidays. Waiting starts now.

Called Customer service on 1/14/2015 and the rep mentioned that they are processing application received on 11/15/2014 .

Looks like I need to wait another 6-8 weeks. 🙁

Today is 1/20/15- called today to check the status of my application. Was told that they are backlogged and currently working on applications received 11/14/14. When I called the week of the 6th they did not have record of my application and told me they were working on applications received 11/29/14 so it appears there's some inconsistency.

I just called in today. I sent in my application on 12/02/14 and they received it on 12/15/14. As of today, they are on a backlog and are currently processing applications from 11/18/2014. I was told to call back in 2 weeks.
