MemberI can’t find the answer to this. Searching only shows where the credit lapses while you’re in the middle of passing your four parts.
Does anyone know how long your four completed parts last while you’re attempting to gain the experience peice?

Member@ liss_ will_be_a_CA_CPA I also found this on page 24
https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/publications/applbook.pdf
Experience That is More Than Five Years Old
If you are applying for licensure with experience obtained five (5) or more years prior to
application you may be required to obtain 48 hours of continuing education and submit the
Certificates of Completion to the CBA prior to licensure.
I am assuming this means I can still get my license with my 6 year old public accounting experience!
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

My email isn't working, but I could have sworn I asked the CBA about this. All I could find yesterday was that note from the handbook.
I think I remember the CBA said that, after passing all 4 exams, the scores never expire. And it makes sense that they'd require continued education, since that's required every couple of years to keep the license active. Thank you for finding that it's 48 hours worth.
My situation is that my job (that I love) for the past 5+ years is under a controller who is not a CPA. So once I pass the exams, I need to either quit my job (which I don't want to do, and honestly can't afford to) or find a part time job under a licensed CPA who only needs help on weekends…I'm not sure if that's even possible. But anyways, my question to the CBA was probably geared more to that.
The CBA confirmed I can work part time for someone and it'd count towards experience. 170 hours is considered a month; therefore, for the 1 year experience it'd be 170*12 = 2,040 total hrs. It sounds pretty easy, but when you consider that I'd probably be lucky to work 2 days a week, 8 hours a day, for 50 weeks a year, it'll easily take 3 years for me to gain the 1 year of experience.
If I can only find part time work for 1 day a week, it'd easily take 5 years to get to 2,040 hrs; in this situation the experience will only count as long as that 2,040 hours was accumulated within a 5 year period. If it takes longer, ie 6 years, then something won't count.
At least that's how I understand it as of now. Once I pass the exams I'm going to ask the CBA again and find out for sure what I need to do.

Memberliss_ will_be_a_CA_CPA if you love your job so much why not become a Certified Managerial Accountant?
https://www.imanet.org/cma_certification.aspx
Because you will have to leave your job for one year to get the CPA work experience. I would at least look into how much weight the CMA carries when compared to the CPA.
CMA work experience is 2 years of continuous professional experience.

MemberSorry for taking over the post but to us California applicants:
I just got off the phone with a woman from the California Board of Accountancy and long as BOTH the passage of the exam and the work experience are not five years old there should be no issue with licensing in California.
If it takes you over 5 years to get your work experience in California after you pass the tests you will have to do 48 hours of continuing education classes. So your tests scores once all passed in California last for ever, but after 5 years you may need to take some classes.
Good day for me!
