Passed CPA Exam but…..

I took and passed the CPA Exam through Puerto Rico’s jurisdiction but I have been living in Texas for the past 3 years. The problem is Texas won let me transfer my scores because even though I had the 150 credit requirement, it didn’t include 3 classes they require. They only way I can get licensed in Texas is via reciprocity. But here is the other problem, I can’t apply for the licence in Puerto Rico either because they require you to be a resident to be eligible to apply and I don’t qualify as one.

I’ve been doing a bit of research and I’ve seen that states like Colorado and New Mexico don’t require to be a resident of that state. Can I apply in either of those states, get licensed and then apply via reciprocity in Texas? I met all the requirements in both of those states.

    Any thoughts/input?

Sounds like a plan, but I would call the AICPA or NASBA and find out their recommendation, if they can tell you anything. You might have to go ahead and take the 3 classes Texas require if you're gonna work in Texas.
