I saw a recent post, and it made me think of this. Can I have my boss fill out and sign off on my paperwork before I pass my last section? I have worked for 3 years directly under the controller (CPA). I have fulfilled numerous “duties” on the CPA experience checklist. She will gladly fill out and sign my paperwork, but I thought I couldn’t do this until all 4 sections were passed… If I can do this, it would take a huge load off of my shoulders because she is leaving at the end of the year, and I also am considering it as well….

It looks like you are getting licensed in Michigan? States might deal with this differently, so the state is important.

If yes to Michigan, the exam and experience requirements look completely separate from each other, and timing between the two should not be an issue. You just can't apply for the license until you have both of those, plus the education.

Ok, so I just checked out the “signoff” sheet. Will the dates be an issue? If she signs it 10/27/14, and I don't submit everything until Dec or Jan, will this be an issue?

So she can fill it out whenever you have met the experience– you are supposed to submit the completed experience form with your application packet after you have passed all of the exams. I don't see anything in the state law that you have a time limit on it. I imagine they see a variety of dates all the time.

Is there a certain number of boxes that need to be checked, or like specific ones that need to be checked? I have fulfilled 2 boxes, and I was wondering if that is enough? I checked the “performance of an independent internal audit function” and “Management and supervision of accounting functions and preparing financial statements for profit or not profit entities”.

I have alot of experience with assisting the auditors in our annual overhead audit, but I am not sure what box that applies to.

Looks like it just has to be in any of those categories and you check all that apply. State law doesn't specify any minimums that I could see. So if it's just one or two boxes, that should be fine.
