I know you guys don’t care, because like me once upon a time, you are entirely too focused on your CPA study materials, but I’m pretty excited because I passed part I of the CIA exam. Since I’m a CPA, I already qualify for part IV, so essentially, I’m already halfway there! Just wanted to celebrate with my CPA fam.

@Jenuno — I'm assuming it was a typo, but you graduated in Dec '11 and you've been working in IA for 2 years? You are correct about the CPA, by the way. I started with my CPA already complete (w/o experience, but still complete) and I had already received a great deal of respect. I definitely get assigned responsibilty over much more complicated areas (e.g. pension benefits, deferred taxes, revenue recognition, hedging/derivitives, etc.) Btw, I work in the consumer and industrial process industry (i.e., manufacturing of raw materials; energy and resources). How about you?

@Baseball – no typo. I had an Internal Audit internship that lasted about 6 months, and was hired at my current job to work when I began my last semester in college. I am in the insurance industry – trucking, life, home warranty, work comp, and aviation.

Damn, that's crazy! Insurance would be a tough industry to have to audit. Do you guys have to regularly bring on actuaries to help you assess reasonableness of assumptions made by the different divisions? Or do they make you guys undergo training to specialize in actuarial duties?
