Does anyone know what you get once you pass all parts in NY state…is it a regular score report you receive as for other parts or a different certificate alongwith.n

I got a 4th report, which lists all the scores. I also got a separate congratulatory letter in the mail from the state board, listing all the scores.n

Once you pass the exam do they send you a packet in the mail with all the forms you need to fill out and send back to get your license or are you just supposed to go online and print the forms out yourself and send them back?

I was looking at the state site (https://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/cpa/cpaforms.htm) and was a bit confused by the info. under Form 2. Do we really have to submit education info. again? what was the point of submitting it to sit if we have to do it twice. Anyone know?n

reflection you must have filed initial application before you sat for ur first cpa exam,.,I mean they evaluate ur eligibility…and they keep it on recoed..so I don't think that u have to file the education stuff again…NYSED will automatically get ur CPA information once u pass all sections… only thing u have to submit is the forms to register ur experience..n

thanks Maan. I did file the education to qualify, as did every other candidate, which is why I was confused that they had it listed under the licensing forms. I'm just going to call them on Monday to see exactly which forms I need to send.n

Can anyone tell me if you get a CPA certificate showing that you passed all 4 exams (beside the last scoring notice showing credit for each part)? I'm in NY and I called NASBA and Office of Professions numerous times, but no one even knows what I'm talking about when I mention a “certificate”.

Do you get a certificate similar to a college diploma just showing that you passed all 4 parts? Or do you just get your license once you get your experience?n

I think you only get the license. Passing all four parts doesn't really mean anything unless you get the license. Call the board (follow the link in my prior post) to be sure.n

You have to send in Form 4 [signed and notarized by you] and 4B, signed and notarized by your employer citing your work experience. Upon receipt of the the above, it takes two to three weeks for NYSSCPA's to review your work experience and if the experience is deemed adequate, you should receive your certificate soon after.

    Hope this helps.n

I found out I passed BEC on Thursday night June 17th, sent in the paperwork that coolguy662 mentioned above the next day (Friday June 18th) and my license was posted today, so that was just two weeks. You can check for your license here. https://www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htmn

I hope my turnaround is as quick as yours rochisny but I doubt it b/c my old employer tended to drag their feet when sending in the forms. I'm going to call tomorrow and check if they mailed it in yet.n

I sat in my HR Manager's office that Friday morning and begged her to fill out the forms right then. She was nice to me and did it and mailed it out the same day I sent my forms in.n

Reflection: Don't be afraid of getting your old employer to fill out form 4b. If you need to, send form 4b again, with a stamped enveloped addressed to Albany, and send it with a snail-mail “tracker” (from the post office – delivery confirmation, or signature confirmation) or from UPS/FedEx. You can also fax it over, and have a fax confirmation, then email a scanned copy, then pick up the telephone to confirm that your employer received it by 1 of the 3 delivery methods. It's your employer's PROFESSIONAL obligation and responsibility to fill that form out, no matter how well or badly both of you separated.n

umm thanks limey but I'm not “scared” to have them fill it out nor do I think that they won't send it in. I just know that they tended to drag their feet on sending in the forms. It's one of the big four so I know they will follow the rules, they just have a slow turnaround in my old group. I didn't have a bad separation, just lamenting that my turnaround won't be as fast as another poster's, that is all.n

Reflection: If any of your seniors/managers/sr managers/partners in your Big4 group are still employed at your place, it's not likely that it will be any of them dealing with this. There's a factory-like method to the madness for the larger firms: HR has to go through all the employment records, and it's some retired partner you don't know or ever heard of, and probably never worked with, that's sitting around, 9-5, with a giant stamp and ink pad in hand, finalizing these forms. Afterwards, it's copied, and mailed out in big batches. Watch out for your email – you may get a copy of form 4b for your records.n
