NY Credit Requirements

I’ve passed all four parts of the exam, I am approaching my 1 year of experience requirement, and have over 150 credits. The problem is, I don’t have 33 accounting credits (I have 30). I was wondering if there is any leniency on the specific credit requirements. I have plenty of finance classes that count towards other credits. Does anyone have any experience with this scenario?

I would prefer to not have to take another class while I’m working….

Do you have any of these? New York considers them accounting credits:

    •Fraud Examination

    •Internal Controls

    •Risk Management

    •Accounting Information Systems

You could probably take a class or two at the University of Phoenix Online to get the credits you need. If you “know accounting” well enough to pass the exam, any class you took from UoP should be super easy.

Thanks for the response. AIS is already counted as one of my current accounting classes, but I do not have any of the others. UoP or LSU was the original plan, but apart from not wanting to take the time, I also want to avoid paying for the class.

I have plenty of finance classes including corporate finance, financial modeling, and banking/financial markets, but not sure if they would allow any to be counted as accounting. Though I could probably argue that they should be.

LSU is fairly cheap…around $450 for a 3 credit class. I took a fraud examination class through them. (I am in NYS) and it has gone through fine (as far as I know). The class was insanely easy…not a ton of work. If you have to do it I would recommend that.
