    Hey everyone,

I just got my final passing score on Aug 4th (4 for 11 on the tests but got it done). I saw somewhere I would receive my congrats letter and application info sometime in October from NJ State Board? Is that right? Can I go ahead and do the application now or just wait for the mail to come? Any inside info would be great.

    Thanks

Yeah, don't wait for the letter to come. If I recall, I got the letter from them a few weeks after I had already sent in my app.

Go to their website and download the app and get it in if you're ready. They can take a little while with the background check and everything so the sooner you get it in, the sooner it gets going.

    Good luck!

Do I get the Statement of Experience forms filled out and sent in with my application and do the employers send them in separately?

I sent the general app myself and I had my employer, who signed off on my experience, send the experience forms directly to the State Board separately.

The verbiage on the app instructs employers to send the experience form to them. Now, I don't know if they'll really give you a hard time if your employer gives the forms to you and then you send them. But, I didn't want to risk any issues so I just had my employer do it directly.

Congrats OP! I just passed the CPA exam in NJ as well! Can anyone help with some of the questions I have below?

Is the licensing fee only $75? The different fees listed at https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/fees/accountancy.pdf are confusing. Do I also need to pay the $90 initial license fee?

Do I only list my places of employment after college or do I also include my jobs during college?

I'm filling out some of the statement of experience form so my employer doesn't have to, even though I will have them send it out separately from my application. Is that unethical? Also, what does “Applicant's Job Classification while in your employment” mean? Would that just be my title?

    I appreciate any help. Thanks!

    @ almostcpnj

The state should send you a letter with the fee that you have to pay. I was licensed back in March and my fee was $30 if I remember correctly. They prorate it for the 3 year term (and the NJ term ends this December). Meaning sometime during the end of this year, you will have to pay the renewal fee which will cover the next 3 years. I don't recall paying anything else, but I also applied mid-busy season and don't exactly remember the process very clearly (LOL).

If I were you I would only list professional experience after college.

I did not fill out anything on the employer portion. I'm not sure what type of employer you work for, but I work in public and had our cpe coordinator handle that on their end. I'd feel funny filling in the employer portion anyway, but that's just me. Hope this helps! Oh, and congrats!!
