Hi, I came across this forum yesterday and thought it would be a very helpful tool for me.
I graduated w/ my BS in Finance in 2003. I was a slacker through most of college and for the most part don’t like to learn via textbook and lectures if they are boring. So August last year I decided that I was going to go for my CPA. So I went back to junior college and finished up the rest of the accounting units. I live in CA and I work for the state in accounting, although I really don’t do much accounting in my job.
College for the most part was pretty easy for me. I never got stellar grades, but decent. I never really had to study much for college classes. There is plenty that I never even read any of the book (mostly cause it was a waste of my time because the textbook was too boring.) So I am pretty intimidated by the CPA exam. I absolutely hate studying for tests, and I have extremely bad self discipline.
I am doing the Genesis CPA review course. Live class starts this Saturday. I have not seen anyone on here mention Genesis review…haha, did I pick a bad review course? The materials that I got are from Bisk though…
The first section that I am taking is AUD. I am not sure if I did something wrong when applying. After I was accepted to take the exam, the only section that I chose was AUD. Do I have to re-apply to sign up for the other sections now, and pay the re-application fee? Also I was never sent my NTS. After a few weeks I called them and they said they sent it out, but I never received it, so I had them mail it again. Have not received it yet.
Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to introduce myself as I will probably be asking a lot of questions. Also I would really enjoy any advice or feedback on what I have written about my situation (bad study habits, NTS, etc.)
Thanks a lot! I do plan on buying that E-book here within a couple of days.
