    Here is my situation:

I recently graduated college and did an internship with a small accounting firm during busy season. They really liked me and offered that I come come work for them. Today, I got a call telling me that I will only work 20 hours a week because they don’t have enough work. I feel like I may have made the wrong decision to go with a small firm. Any advice on my next move? Stay? Look elsewhere?

I'd look elsewhere. Either a different CPA firm or try to get into private accounting.

Unless you have something lined up already, you may want to consider the part time job. Half income is better than no income. Also, working only part time may give you some much needed time to start studying for the exams. Good luck!

Sounds like the small place lost a client or two. It can also happen in large places, where an entire client goes to another firm, and that audit team goes belly-up. If your state has a work experience requirement that this small place can help you out with, like others noted, take advantage of your lighter schedule to study for the exam. And definitely don't be shy about exploring other options with other firms! This lighter workload may be a hidden gem for you on many fronts!

I'll admit that a very short job stop I had was at a very small shop. The hours were fairly fixed and predictable b/c of the clients, and that really helped me out in terms of studying and passing the remaining exam parts while I was there.

    Couldn't pass again!

    TAKE THE JOB!!!

It's amazing to have a job offer with the current economy. I'd say give it a try and see how things go…you never know you could have more hours coming your way. I mean think about it, worst case scenario is that you get additional work experience, time to work on the exam, and you can always evaluate things once the exam is done.
